Trail to 1st Class: What is that?

Posted on May 16 2013 - 2:46pm

The first three ranks of Boy Scouting (Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class) are ranks that do not require merit badges to advance. Therefore our troop encourages newer scouts to focus on skills-building at summer camp - Camp Oljato provides rank-specific skill building in each of the three time slots (9am, 1030am, 1pm)  so if a scout is working on say their Tenderfoot rank, there is a Tenderfoot class session available for the scout to work on the requirements for advancements.   He may elect to take on a Tenderfoot and another rank class.   Combined, the efforts to work on these three ranks are referred to collectively as the "trail to 1st class".  We recommend each new scout to take at least one rank session during summer camp.
