Welcome to Troop 301!

Welcome to the Troop 301 Website

BSA Troop 301 consists of a boys troop and a girls troop, as well as a venture crew, chartered through the San Carlos Kiwanis. Our troop meetings are held at the Tierra Linda Middle School in San Carlos, CA.  We are in the Redwood District of the Pacific Skyline Council.

We have approximately 35 scouts in our troop and we meet three Mondays a month at 7:30pm at Tierra Linda Middle School (750 Dartmouth Ave., San Carlos). We have at least one outing scheduled for every month. Our outdoor program has an emphasis on variety and includes; backpacking, rock climbing, day hikes, winter camping, deep snow camping, snowboarding & skiing, whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, summer camps, 50-miler treks and Philmont treks.

Our Troop 301 Mission Statement is:

  1. Strive to follow the Scout Oath, Law, and Motto in our daily lives.
  2. Emphasize a scout-led program with a variety of outdoor activities.
  3. Promote youth self-sufficiency in the wilderness and at home.
  4. Produce confident leaders who can lead by example.

Hi, Troop!

For all of the Scouts and adults that are attending this Sunday’s hike at El Corte de Madera, here are some details.

We will be hiking approximately 4.5 miles with stops at an unusual rock formation and an airplane crash memorial site. The hike will take about 2 hours and we will take a break for rank advancement. We will be hosting Webelos Scouts from Pack 301 so you can look forward to showing them what Scouting is like.

Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 numbers, Sunset State Beach is closed for camping on the weekend of the planned family camping trip.

In lieu of the camping trip, the troop has scheduled a day hike in the morning of Saturday January 16 to explore some of the hidden corners of Twin Pines Park.  Please register for the event on the troop website.

Regular Meetings Cancelled

Posted on Mar 13 2020 - 1:11pm

Given current public health recommendations, Troop 301 will be cancelling regular meetings for the foreseeable future.

So long as local schools are closed and the health department advises only small group meetings with 2-meter distancing, we will not meet indoors.  Please note that the next few weeks are a great time to work on advancement such as merit badges and rank advancement! Scouts can meet with merit badge counselors over the telephone – provided that the meeting takes place using a speakerphone and another adult is present to hear the conversation.  Scouts can work with their counselor and Ms. Nicholson to record progress through Scoutbook.
